If time is a river,

it explains the days,

that seem either slow or fast,

steady or rushing.

Time does not respect age,

It will not slow down

To give us more moments,

with the ones we love.

If time is a river,

it waits for no one.

You promised me time,

Time breaks them.

Wait, you said, wait,

An appointment you set

Through time for better days

Better days I have yet to see.

Our lives are measured,

sands in the hourglass,

limited and controlled

by the ruthless tyrant time.

We aren’t promised a long life,

I refuse to wait in your forever.

The river stops for no one,

And I will wait no more.
